
If you travel to North of Viet Nam, whether your trip is long or short Ha Long is a “must go” place. Ha Long is consider 1 of 7 natural wonders of the world recognised by Unesco in 1994, it’s located in northeastern Vietenam’s Gulf of Tonkin, Quang Ninh province. Ha Long consist of 1969 islands and islets. It’s contain important traces in the development of the Earth’s history, the relics of ancient Vietnamese people, and the beautiful and gorgeous landscape of islands and islets. Ha Long has two types of islands which are limestone islands and schists island, it’s also famous with many beautiful caves. Ha Long is also a place of high biological with typical tropical sea, for example sea grass eccosystems, coral-reef ecosystems, agriculture ecosystem…
In Vietnamese, Ha Long means “descending dragon”. The famous legend of Ha Long is that a stock of dragons descended from heaven to help the Viet people defeated the enemy by spraying fire, emeralds or jade. After victory, they decided to stay in Ha Long area forever and become thousand of stone islands and islets beause they felt the beauty of Ha Long and found the suitable environment to live there.
The number of caves form by 1969 islands on Ha Long bay is not calculated exactly up to now. Below is description of the most famous caves in Ha Long:
1. Sung Sot cave (Amazing Cave)
It is one of the biggest and most beautiful caves in Viet Nam. Every year it is more and more crowded with visitors, but it really worthy if you visit. The path to cave is full with beautiful trees and flowers. Inside the cave, the shape of stalagmites and stalactites make you imagine of many stories and animals in poses. Visitor will feel really “Amazing” when you visit that cave.
2. Luon cave
Luon cave is a famous place for visitor to go kayak or bamboo boat. As you pass through the pretty entrance, you will enjoy a tranquil lake surrounded by limestone mountains and green trees. You might have chance to see many monkeys from big to small size moving near the wate. These monkey are familiar with visitors. You could let your mind totally free and enjoy nature atmotsphere of the bay.
3. Thien Cung cave
Thien Cung cave is located at 4km to the South of Tuan Chau port. It areas is about 10.000 square meters. Thien Cung cave is wide with large ceiling. Inside the cave is many stalagtites and stalagmites
